Modi: Pakistan Must Dismantle Terror Infrastructure to Survive

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his first public reaction to the recent military clashes with Pakistan, stated on Monday that Pakistan can only survive if it rids itself of what he called “terror infrastructure.”

Referring to Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Modi said, “If we are to talk to Pakistan, it will only be about terrorism… about Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.”

These remarks come following heightened tensions between the two countries after India launched airstrikes on Pakistani territory. The strikes occurred two weeks after an attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 26 people. New Delhi claimed the attack was backed by Islamabad — an allegation Pakistan has denied.

The military clashes between India and Pakistan eventually ceased after both sides agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday
