Sources familiar with the matter told Reuters that Ahmad Shar’a, the ruler of Syria, has prepared a set of proposals aimed at gaining the attention and support of former U.S. President Donald Trump during his upcoming visit to the Middle East.

The proposals reportedly include the construction of a Trump Tower in Damascus, easing tensions with Israel, and providing the U.S. access to Syria’s energy resources.

Jonathan Bass, a pro-Trump American activist who met with Ahmad Shar’a in Damascus on April 30 for a four-hour discussion, is working alongside a group of Syrian and Gulf Arab activists to organize an unprecedented meeting between Shar’a and Trump during the U.S. president’s tour of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.

However, such a meeting faces significant skepticism, as Syria has yet to meet Washington’s conditions for lifting sanctions. These sanctions have isolated the country from the global financial system and disrupted its post-war reconstruction after fourteen years of conflict.

According to Bass, Ahmad Shar’a is interested in striking a “grand deal” with Trump that includes energy exploitation, cooperation against Iran, and engagement with Israel.
“Shar’a told me he wants to build a Trump Tower in Damascus. He seeks peace with his neighbors and believes this will benefit the region—especially Israel,” Bass added.

Syria’s official media and the presidential office have not responded to requests for comment. However, it has been reported that Shar’a held talks on Sunday with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

A source close to Shar’a confirmed that a meeting with Trump in Saudi Arabia is still a possibility, although no official invitation has been received so far.
